This one-day course is designed for veterinary surgeons seeking advanced solutions for complex patellar luxation cases. The program focuses on the clinical application of Patellar Groove Replacement (PGR), combining focused lectures with hands-on laboratory training.

This course will highlight the BlueSAO PGR system. Compared with traditional two-piece PGR implants, the BlueSAO design features a one-piece, low-profile implant that eliminates the risk of component separation or implant dislodgement. Its thinner profile preserves bone stock and improves anatomical fit, particularly in patients with poor bone quality or a history of multiple surgeries.

Why PGR?

Preoperative evaluation using radiography and CT frequently reveals that many patellar luxation patients suffer from more than a shallow trochlear groove. Common findings include severe trochlear dysplasia or deformity, advanced cartilage wear and erosion, failed previous surgeries, and significant osteoarthritis. In these cases, traditional trochleoplasty alone is often insufficient to restore joint function or provide lasting pain relief.

PGR offers a critical solution by reconstructing a stable, anatomically appropriate trochlear groove, allowing these patients to achieve a truly pain-free functional joint. The technique significantly reduces postoperative pain and lowers the risk of complications, making PGR an essential option for managing severe or end-stage patellar luxation.
